Farewell from a coordinator

After nine-and-a-bit years as Catchment Coordinator of WCL, it is time for me to move on. I will soon be taking on a position with Canegrowers Proserpine, working with local farmers and industry on best management practice projects. My time with WCL has been filled with learning and fun as well as community and job fulfilment.

There are many that deserve recognition for helping make it so: other WCL staff over the years; Whitsunday Regional Council staff and councillors for their support of WCL, especially the Parks & Gardens crew and Catchment Management Services; WCL Committee (past and present); staff and committees of Sarina and Pioneer Landcare groups; Reef Catchments for having provided me as a part-time Coordinator to WCL for the last three years; land owners who have cared enough about the land to seek information or assistance from WCL; and of course the Volunteers, whose number, dedication and enthusiasm have only grown over the years.

While my leaving brings with it some sadness, I am keen to start my new job, and keen to become one of those Volunteers so vital for community groups like ours. I hope that you will make the new WCL Coordinator feel as welcomed as I have been over the years. So, farewell; until I see you at some WCL event.
