Project achievements and outcomes:
PCL has takes a very active role in the Mackay Regional Pest Management Group and PCL committee members had strong input into the first and second editions of “Are Your Garden Plants Going Bush?” published by Mackay Regional Pest Management Group (contact PCL for a copy). We have contributed to securing (and managing/implementing) a Regional Pest Management Project Officer, funds to map and plan for the management of Leucaena in the Mackay Whitsunday region and funds to deliver pest management extension services to the Peri-urban Sector. We have assisted in the development of local government pest management plans, and participated in an assessment panel for reviewing these plans. PCL has also played an active role in pest management in coastal wetlands.
