History of Sarina Landcare Catchment Management Association
Sarina Landcare Catchment Management Association (SLCMA) formed in October 2001 after the amalgamation of Sarina Integrated Catchment Management Association (formed in 1998) and Sarina and District Landcare Group (formed in 1996). In 2001, SLCMA members and stakeholders developed the Sarina Integrated Catchment Management Strategy to help guide natural resource management within the Sarina Catchment.
The group was one of the founding stakeholders of the Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Group and assisted in the development and public consultation of the Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Plan (2005) which incorporates the Sarina Integrated Catchment Management Strategy.
